Specifically, this History course will combine community service and academic instruction through the Oglethorpe University-LeadAbroad partnership in South Africa, where students will reflect on and engage the notion of citizenship and civic responsibility, applied globally with the potential for local application upon return to the United States. The course will expose students to leadership, personal development, and service learning engagement through the Oglethorpe University-LeadAbroad partnership in South Africa.  Readings, assignments, and activities grounded in South African society and culture will guide this unique experience.
